Older than dirt: Scientists assert ancient crystal is 4.4 billion years old

A recent report asserts a zircon found in Australia is 4.4 billion years old, making it allegedly the oldest particle of Earth ever discovered. The team of researchers published their results in a Nature Geoscience report titled Hadean age for a post-magma-ocean zircon confirmed by atom-probe tomography.

The age of Earth has been a focal point of heated discussion. Those who favor one or more of the five prevalent views of evolution (cosmic, chemical, stellar, organic or macro-evolution) often interpret information in a manner to lend extended epochs of time for such processes to function. A weakness in this view – in addition to its inability to explain the origin of life – is its tolerance of imprecision in and acceptance of broad, sweeping estimates of the age of Earth.

The Bible teaches that God made Earth and its occupants in a very short period of time, and that these were created with the appearance they had been in existence much longer than they actually had been.

Paul wrote, Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3, KJV).

The Six Meanings of Evolution

The Six Meanings of Evolution

The debate regarding evolution would benefit from a more precise definition of terms. For example, in this piece by Dr. Ken Hovind, he steps into the fray by clarifying a half-dozen ways “evolution” can be defined. Hovind proposes science supports only micro-evolution – variations within “kinds.”

Genesis 1:11-12 states: And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Similar statements are recorded in verses 21-22: And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.”

And verses 24-25: And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

The dearth of scientific evidence for a “missing link” – in which macro-evolution is observed – supports the potential for evolution of created life only within its kind.

Creation Museum explores legends about dragons

A current exhibit at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY, explores legends and lore about dragons, and whether such creatures  existed. Information provided by the museum (site: http://creationmuseum.org/) states it “brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings.”
